Gail & Bill Jones Passing

Nov 10, 2021 – I just received news that Gail (nee Seifert) and her husband, Bill Jones, recently passed. Their obits are below,

HELPING OTHERS VIA ANCESTRY

October, 2021. I got a message via my Ancestry account in Sept about a person who was murdered in Nevada in 1906, John Keemen. The History Society of Nevada was looking for information about a person who was in a grave they had marked. In their research they came across his name in my Lauzon Family Tree. I had researched the Kemen family (they had spelled John’s name wrong) about 5 years ago to identify members of families that had donated our Church windows in 1885. Here is where the world becomes smaller. It turned out that John Kemen was the uncle of the sister-in-law of the sister-in-law of my sister, Lorene Lauzon Sabin. Wow. Genealogy programs keep track of relationships, even confusing ones like this. Below is page 1 of the 1906 murder story. If you are interested in more contact me for page 2.

DNA

My email Inbox

Almost each day I get 1 or 2 emails from Family Tree about a DNA Match. They appear as the image above. As of yet I don’t do anything with them except delete them. Sometimes I go to my DNA sites and look at the matches, but still, I don’t do anything with them. You see, I am the contact person for 4 DNA tests: myself, my children: Shawn and Heather, and my brother-in-law: John Wallace. Between the 4 test reports, by now, I have tens of thousands of matches. The matches are from my relatives in any of the family lines that are found on my Lauzons.com website, but I’ve never found the “match” listed on my Ancestry tree. I haven’t taken the time to contact the matches or use the info in any way, other than say to myself that someday I will get to understanding the facts that are contained within the matches. Of particular question is the mtDNA match with Paul Russo Jr, who is listed to be “0” generations distance from Shawn, Heather, and John, but not myself. I think this means that he somehow fits into the Wallace-Michaelis families. I sent him a message inquiring how he might be related, but have not heard back. Oh well, for now, DNA remains on my Genealogy To Do List.

Stephen Cook Family Added

On Tues Sept 14 I improved the COOK page by adding photo trees & draft bio stories of the Stephen Cook & Martha Hatch family. Steve moved the Cook family from Janesville, Wisconsin, to Iowa, and then South Dakota, and finally the family homesteaded in Montana.

The Cooks have Arrived

The Lauzons.com website was launched on late Wed Sept 8. Among the first relatives to subscribe were two from the Cook family. I realized that I hadn’t loaded any material (which was in draft form) on the Cook family at that time, so as a way of “honoring” my-fast-to-subscrbe maternal relatives, I assembled the draft stories & photo family trees of my Cook aunts & uncles and cousins and posted them on the Cook Family Page. Happy reading. Bill Lauzon

Scott Sabin Joins the Team

Scott Sabin, my nephew (Lorene’s son) has agreed to try his hand at spearheading the task of adding content to the SABIN tree. I sent him around 400 images and files that I had, including an 1993 video I made of his Aunt Jennette and her mom & siblings talking about the history of the…

Added Seifert Bio Pages

Today I added family pages for Joe Seifert & Irene Lauzon and Frank J Seifert & Anna Freiwald. I had received in the mail some info sheets from Sue Petitt about her grandparents. It turned out that none of the sheets had new material; but, it prompted me to generate pages about her parents and…

1st Wallace Video Posted

I finally finished the 1st draft of the video-biography for Nancy’s paternal grandparents, Henry S Wallace and Ida Doescher. Actually, it is Part 1, which covers the years 1884 to 1927. Go directly via the link, or follow the tree/bio menu. I need a review and added material from the Wallace clan to update it.…

J&M Completed

I just uploaded Part 5 – “Marceline, Alone” to the site. It is the final part in the Life Story of John & Marceline Lauzon. It covers the years from 156 to 1970. I’m now taking a little break and am planning on starting a less exhaustive life story bio on Nancy’s Wallace grandparents. Hope…

P4 is Posted

This morning I posted “Part 4 – The 50’s” of John & Marceline’s family narrative. Actually it covers the period from the mid-40’s to mid-‘s. It was sort of sad, because it ends with the 1956 Anniversary dinner, which I slightly recall. Hope all my Lauzon relatives enjoy it. As always, please send your comments,…

Joe added to P3

I got up and remembered that I needed to fix the section of Part 3 of John & Marceline’s Racine story where I forgot to include material on their son Joe’s situation in the mid-late 1930s. Having gone to Church on Sat, I was free to get this out of my way on Sun morning.…

Part 3 Done

I didn’t get my intended to-do list things done, but I finished the 1st draft of Part 3 on John & Marceline’s adventure moving to Racine in 1929 and its posted on their VideoBio page. I forgot to add the part about Joe being in Folsom Prison and getting married, so there will be an…

Revised Part 2

I’ve updated Part 2 (The Growing Family Years) of John & Marceline’s story because (1) I never liked the photo that was used for Marceline’s animated speaking, and (2) I hadn’t included key facts about their 2 run-a-way kids. These items and a few others have been corrected. If you viewed version 1 you may…

John & Marceline – Part 2 (Growing Family)

Part 2 of the Life Story of John Lauzon & Marceline Cholette has been added to their page on the Lauzons.com website. Take a look. Next up, Part 3, will be about the Racine Years and cover 1928 to 1945. As always, I encourage people to subscribe to the website using the “Folllow” button on…
